Sock Assist Storage: Keep the Device Accessible and Out of the Laundry

A sock assist is most useful when it can be reached from the place where socks are put on. If it migrates into a laundry basket, closet floor or pile of clothing, the routine becomes harder and the device may be washed accidentally.

Map the path from clean socks to seating

Identify where clean socks are stored, where the user sits and where worn laundry goes. The sock assist should live along the first path without crossing into the hamper path. Avoid high shelves or deep bins that require difficult reaching.

Create a laundry boundary

Use a hamper only for washable textiles. If a sock remains on the device, remove it according to instructions before either item is put away. Add a simple label near the hamper if several people handle laundry.

  1. Choose a seat. Use a stable place already selected for dressing.
  2. Pick one storage point. A labelled hook, open basket or drawer section makes return predictable.
  3. Separate from textiles. Do not bury the device under socks or clothing.
  4. Keep cords controlled. Store handles or cords so they are visible and do not trail across a walkway.
  5. Practice the return. After use, place the device back before moving to the next dressing task.

Use the correct device information

Keep the device outside the laundry stream

The Sock Assist page identifies the current item, but use its supplied instructions for loading a sock, handling and care. Do not assume the device itself is washable because it is used with washable clothing.

Review the setup after a week

Notice where the device actually ends up. If it is repeatedly left elsewhere, move the designated storage point closer to the final seated position rather than relying on reminders alone.
